The results of the student government elections for prefect and head prefect for 2012-2013 were announced this past week: Ian Riley, head prefect, Wyatt Clark, Paige Silengo, Tristan Kishonis, Erin Sullivan, and Harris Owens.

April is the occasion for celebrating creativity and the arts at The Gunnery. As the community entered the dining hall, a mounted exhibit of paintings, drawings, ceramics, poetry, and photographs by our student artists greeted visitors. [continued]

Twenty-four students from the AP Macro and Micro Economics classes ventured into the Financial District to see their daily lessons in action.

The day began at the 9/11 Memorial where according to faculty member Jarrod Sisk, "we talked about the economic significance for that one event and how it affected the whole economy such as security on planes and insurance costs." The Annual Fund Challenge is more than half-way complete—help us get to the finish line!

Since April 1st, we have received 250 gifts totaling $64,214 towards our $100,000 goal by June 15th. Thank you to those of you who have contributed!

With a month remaining to make our goal, our Challenge Donors are encouraged. Their idea to pledge $100,000 to match new and increased gifts was to demonstrate the power of coming together as a community. While we may have many branches on the Gunnery family tree, we are bonded by our love for the school. By joining forces for a common purpose, we can ensure a strong and healthy education for students today and in the future.

Alumni, parents, and friends of the school have shown their support. Follow our progress and visit our website to get more information on Let's Go Gunn Annual Fund Challenge.

If you are having trouble calling The Gunnery, please email DanielsB@gunnery.org so we can resolve the issue — Thank you.

This past April, Erin Kelly '08 ran the 2012 Boston Marathon to raise money for First Descents (FD), a non-profit organization that runs outdoor adventure therapy programs for young adults (ages 18-39) with cancer. An avid athlete and outdoors person, Erin raised $5,000 through her efforts. All proceeds were sent to First Descents.

As a Gunnery student, Erin was an active athlete. She was (and still is) in great physical shape; however; she never ran a full marathon. [continued]
