
Fitness instructor, Rebecca Galsterer '92 offers some helpful tips for a successful exercise regime. "Eat well with a balanced diet of fruits and vegetables," she said, "and exercise. Do cardio at least 30 minutes a day, five days per week. Every other day, do weight training for 30 minutes." She explains that alternating every other day will give the muscles a chance to rebuild and replenish.
Currently, Rebecca works for the YMCA in northern Michigan where she has lived with her husband for the last two years.

The anxiously awaited college acceptances are in, and for many the enrollment decisions have been made. The senior class of 2008, soon-to-be freshman class of 2012, were excited to show off their new colors for next year. A representative list of matriculations can be found here.

The One World group under the supervision of faculty advisor Bett Alter sponsored a number of activities during Diversity Week, April 20th -April 26th (with Monday off to celebrate Seth and Ann Lowe's new baby son David). Beginning with the film Kite Runner on Sunday and ending with an international flag quiz at Friday's formal lunch, the group sought to remind the Gunnery community of the challenges and blessings of the diverse world we live in.
Tuesday's formal lunch was called "Mix-It-Up Day" when the students were randomly seated at faculty tables rather than with their advisors.

Prefects for the 2008-2009 were announced this past week to an enthusiastic school community. Those elected included: Joe Mashburn (Head Prefect), Pat Loglisci, Adam Katzenberg, Blake Tretter, Kurt Bailey, and Maisie Theobald. This was the second time that students and faculty could submit their votes electronically. The head prefect election was held separately after the six prefects were announced. In a collaboration between BJ Daniels, Director of Information Technology, and Rob Reinhardt, Dean of Students, a user friendly online voting system was created to meet with the sensibilities of the Millennium Generation.

 GIRLS' TENNIS (6-3): On a cold day in Cheshire, CT, The Gunnery Highlanders rolled over Cheshire Academy 7-0 to pick up their sixth win of the season. Christina Cornell '09, Priyanka Shetty '08, and Lauren Brooks '10 led the way in the first three singles matches, as the girls dropped a total of only four games between them. Consistent play, overpowering shots and brilliant coaching resulted in the victories.

Two sets of Gunnery thespians travelled to midtown Manhattan to see the hottest revival on Broadway - Gypsy. Over the April 19th weekend, Academic Dean, Jarrod Sisk took eight students to see the classic musical. Less than a week later, over seventy alumni, parents, and friends packed the St. James Theater (after drinks and hors d'oeuvres at Sardi's) to see fellow current parent, Patti LuPone P'09 make Broadway history in her powerhouse performance of dominant stage mother, "Mama Rose."
