Opening Minds Campaign Reaches Milestone with
Opening of New Upper School Campus

When doors opened to the new Upper School campus in early September, BB&N
students, faculty, and staff were greeted with the first visible
accomplishment of the Opening Minds Campaign—the significant
renovation of much of the Upper School campus and an entirely new building
(Renaissance Hall) circling a courtyard that has truly become the "heart"
of the Upper School.
Early donors to the Campaign, including many who made unrestricted gifts to
support both the building and endowment priorities of the Campaign, enabled
the project to be completed on time, on budget, and just 18 months from
the start of construction.
The new building was formally dedicated at the Opening Doors Celebration
on a glorious Saturday afternoon, September 29, 2007. continued

Help Meet the George Serries Theater Challenge!

As announced this summer, BB&N has received a commitment of $175,000
from an anonymous alumnus to be used as a 1:1 challenge to other donors. Gifts
in response to this special challenge will be allocated toward the Upper School
Building Project and, when combined with the donor's previous gift of $900,000
to the project, will
name the new theater in memory of former faculty member George Serries.

2007-2008 Annual Fund and Senior Parents' Gift Off to a Strong Start

Parent and alumni/ae volunteers are gearing up for a busy fall of calling
and outreach to other parents and classmates seeking gifts and pledges for
the 2007-2008 Annual Fund. Achieving this year's goal of $2.35 million
is essential to provide critical funds to close the $5,736 gap between
tuition and the true cost of educating a student at BB&N today. Look
for a letter and envelope in the mail or make your gift online at
www.bbns.org/donate.
The 2008 Senior Parents' Gift Committee has also begun calls to seek support
for the Class of 2008 Faculty Endowment Fund. Parents of Seniors should
expect to receive a call soon!

While the collective generosity of many donors made possible the completion
and opening of the new Upper School campus in September, significant gifts
from several families, individuals, and senior parent classes are recognized
through named spaces throughout the campus. We invite you to view a complete list of
naming opportunities in the new Upper School Building.

A magnificent lead gift from Richard A. Smith '42, Susan F. Smith, Debra Smith
Knez '78 and Brian Knez (parents of Jessica '05 and Andrew '07) is recognized
with the naming of the Smith Family Atrium, Reception Area, and Theater Foyer,
"in appreciation of our family's BB&N heritage over three generations."
Early and generous support from Senior Parents in the Classes of 2000, 2002,
2004, 2005 and 2006 has been recognized through several named spaces.
