Campaign Total Tops $46 million;
Annual Fund Exceeds Goal

As we close the books on the 2006-07 fiscal year, BB&N is thrilled to
report that the Opening Minds Campaign has topped the $46 million mark
toward its goal of $62 million. Key to the success of the Campaign to date
was the completion of the anonymous $10 Million Challenge, received in
Spring 2003, which matched all new commitments for endowment and the Upper
School Building Project on a one-for-two basis and generated the first
$30 million of the Campaign.
Gifts in response to the $10 Million Challenge have provided crucial funds
for the Upper School Building Project and endowment for faculty, financial
aid, and other programs. The successful completion of this Challenge has
also stimulated three other exciting challenges: the Alumni/ae Challenge
nearing completion, the Faculty Challenge launched this spring, and a
new George Serries Theater Challenge.
Equally exciting is that this year's Annual Fund—another important
priority of the Opening Minds Campaign—has exceeded its $2.125 million goal
and will provide more than $2.2 million in operating support this year for
faculty, financial aid, academic programs, and all areas of the School's
operating budget.

Faculty Challenge Launched To Sustain Excellence In Teaching

To support the $12 million faculty endowment goal of the Opening Minds
Campaign, several generous donors have made commitments to help create a
$2 million challenge pool that will be used to match all new gifts of
$100,000 or more on a 1 for 2 basis. (e.g., a $100,000 gift will
generate an additional $50,000 from the Challenge pool). When both the
pool and matching funds are received, BB&N will have received $6 million
to add to funds already raised toward the $12 million goal for endowed
faculty support.

Alumni/ae Challenge Nears Completion

Thanks to the generosity of 28 alumni/ae in classes ranging from 1935 to 1998,
the $1 million anonymous Alumni/ae Challenge has nearly been met.
This two-year Challenge, announced in November 2005, is from a BB&N graduate
who pledged $1 million to match all new commitments of $25,000 or more
from alumni/ae who had never given at that level, or the amount of increase over
a donor's previous gift at that level. With the November 2007 deadline
approaching, BB&N has received $850,000 in qualifying gifts and pledges.

Challenge Gift to Name Upper School Theater for George Serries

Exciting news! BB&N has just received a commitment of $175,000 from an
anonymous alumnus to be used as a 1:1 challenge to other donors. Gifts in
response to this special challenge will be allocated toward the Upper School
Building Project and, when combined with previous gifts to the project, will
name the new theater in memory of former faculty member George Serries.
Serries, who taught drama, English, and French at B&N and BB&N from
1964 to 1982, made a remarkable impact on the lives of many alumni/ae of this
era, and helped establish BB&N's strong drama program that continues to
this day under the direction of Mark Lindberg. continued

Past Parents Gather to Tour New Upper School Building

More than 100 parents of alumni/ae gathered at the Upper School on April 22,
2007, to reconnect with each other and BB&N and tour the nearly completed
Upper School building project. The event was organized by the recently created
Past Parent Committee chaired by Deedie Bouscaren P'03, Janet Berkeley P'06,
and Sharon Malt P'06. Building tours were led by past parent and former
trustee Rick Kobus P'01, '05, Assistant Head for Operations Thom Greenlaw,
and Project Manager Cynthia Westerman. continued
