The much-anticipated Teddy House dormitory was dedicated in a celebration of
life and The Gunnery community. Trustee Peter Slone '73 & P'11 stated
it best when describing the dedication of the new dormitory: "This truly
is a beautiful day."
The cloudy skies, sporadic rainfall, and tragic story associated with this
project did not deter the community from celebrating this living monument
to Edward "Teddy" Ebersol '08, who was killed in a plane crash in Colorado
in November 2004.

The Gunnery's Convocation formally opens the school year with attendance
by the whole school community. It includes welcomes from Head of School
Susan Graham, Dean of Students Rob Reinhardt, and the head of student
government, senior prefect Patrick Brennan. However, the naming of the
highest scholars by grade level for the previous year (2006-2007) is the
high point of the ceremony.

It's very "in" now to talk about environmental issues. Many people talk
the talk, but how many actually walk the walk. In the Fall 2007 edition of
The Gunnery Alumni Bulletin, you will meet three alumni who practice what
they preach. Profiles on Danielle Sass '95 (Senior Program Manager /
Climate Change Policy Analyst, Eastern Research Group), Spencer Meyer '96
(Research & Communication Coordinator, U of Maine's Cooperative Forestry
Research Unit), and Kenneth Foreman '69 (Ecosystems Center, Marine Biological
Laboratory) will be accompanied by a feature story spotlighting The
Gunnery's rich history with nature.

In July this year six-year faculty veteran, Jarrod Sisk, took over the
role of Academic Dean from long-time faculty member Chapin Miller. With
his first-hand experience, Jarrod hopes to lead his colleagues and the
student body through an academic protocol that is both practical and
innovative. "I've always had an interest in school administration,"
said Jarrod, "particularly in academics." Chapin Miller will continue as
a member of the history department.
Jarrod lists four goals for the upcoming year.

Kathryn Kane '92 's career path proves the adage that it's not your college
major that determines your future.. She was a psychology major at Fairfield
University, but took a job in branding and merchandising management with
Levi Strauss in California. Although she had minimal experience, she
developed a passion for her work in what she describes as an "always
changing, fast-paced career." Over the next decade, she had jobs with
several Fortune-500 companies including eBay, Inc., where she currently
works with the Marketing and Strategic Planning Group.
Following her time with Levi Strauss, she spent three years at William
Sonoma in planning and merchandising for the Food Division. "They were a
true bricks-and-mortar retail company," she explained. "I monitored the
inventory to ascertain if we were buying the right product for the right
store."
